We were truly honoured that our Founder and CEO, Lisa Thomson, was shortlisted as a finalist at last night’s Women’s Enterprise Scotland Awards 2019 in the Emerging Business Leader category alongside other fantastic business leaders.
Run in association with Scottish Business Insider, the glittering Awards ceremony took place at Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel, with established and emerging business leaders from across Scotland being celebrated in ten categories.
Carolyn Currie, CEO of Women’s Enterprise Scotland, commented, “Women-owned businesses represent 20% of Scotland’s business base and contribute a whopping £8.8bn into the economy every year. That’s more than many of the stated growth sectors, including Food and Drink and Sustainable Tourism. Yet the persistent gender gap in enterprise participation remains. Our Awards showcase the array of talent represented by Scotland’s women-owned business community and create the role models who will inspire us all and the next generation of women and girls coming through.”
She continued; “At WES we have an ambition for women-owned businesses. Our goal is to create a diverse, innovative and prosperous business ecosystem, fully unlocking women’s economic potential and consigning the gender gap in enterprise to history.”
The event was supported and attended by over 250 guests from across Scotland and supported by Business Gateway, CYBG, DSL Finance and Boe Gin. The charity partner was Women’s Fund for Scotland.
Congratulations to all the winners and finalists and thank you to Women’s Enterprise Scotland and Scottish Business Insider for a fantastic evening!
