HERE TO HELP
“I help clients from the minute they come into contact with AAB People, I will set up the initial meetings and inform the client how AAB People can support them. In many ways, I help clients by helping them understand what help we can give them.
For me, it is so important that we have mutual trust with clients. Many of our clients are small teams and need an extension of that team so trust is a huge part of that. Especially where we have clients that operate within a niche sector, they come to us because of our expertise in HR and the high-quality service that we provide.”
HELPING BUSINESSES SUCCEED
“I love learning about new clients and hearing about their businesses and their growth plans is inspiring. Being able to have a hand in that growth is such an amazing opportunity. Working in business development gives me the opportunity to have those initial calls and show clients why AAB People is exactly what they need.”
VARIETY OF COMMUNICATION
“I enjoy the mix between virtual and hands-on. Many of our clients also work in the tech world and Teams calls are now the norm which is great as we can connect with a wider range of clients. However, nothing to me feels better than attending in-person networking events, meeting new people, interacting and building those foundations for strong working relationships.”
GROWING A COMMUNITY
“I am really excited to watch AAB People grow and working in business development often means that I can watch and be involved in this growth which is great. I am excited about further development in my role and seeing my network grow to help me build a client base.
I think one of my greatest strengths is that I am a people person. Working in business development, it’s important that I can speak to anyone and have the confidence to talk about all the amazing things AAB People can do- that is something I love about my job.”
PEOPLE-FOCUSED BUSINESS
“There can be a negative perception of both those that work in HR and in Business Development. There is a view that business development is where you cold-call people to pressure them into signing contracts in an unfriendly way. That is the opposite of how it works at AAB People. We are a people focused business and working in HR probably helps! We much more focus on the client relationship, we have faith in what we do, and we know it helps clients. We are never pushy or too much with potential clients but instead friendly and approachable.
There seems to be a negative connotation when you mention the word HR, when it’s just people! I often speak to people and tell them where I work and they have a negative perception of HR and those in HR consultancy. There is a belief that HR isn’t necessary, when every business that employs people will likely need HR help/advice. Working in the role that I do, in business development the first thing they think of is ‘Oh you work in sales.
This is often met with a fairly negative reaction; they think of being pestered and sold something they don’t need. When this is the opposite of what it is like at AAB People. We are a people-focused business and care about all the clients (potential and current). I want to make sure that I understand potential clients’ businesses and sectors so that I can fully understand their needs.”
