working with innovative businesses
“It is so rewarding to work with exciting and innovation-driven businesses to support and add value through their HR/People function and strategies – recognising that even the best ideas cannot commercialise or scale a business without a strong team in place. We are lucky to work with really interesting, purpose-driven businesses which are making a real difference and achieving technological advancements across diverse sectors in areas like sustainability, the environment, child safety, and inclusion. Knowing that taking care of their HR needs and helping them build effective, diverse, and inclusive teams is what allows the founders to focus on building their businesses and what they do best is hugely rewarding.
As our team has grown it has been amazing to see colleagues grow and develop in confidence, gain professional qualifications, progress within the team, and take proud ownership of client relationships – this has only been possible as we have scaled and, as a leader, I have also learned so much myself in this time!”
attracting & engaging top talent
“Currently, the market for talent (especially niche and specialist roles that many of our innovation-driven clients have) is extremely competitive – and so key challenges are attraction and retention of talent. This can be especially tough for SMEs and growing businesses without a dedicated in-house HR/People team and resources. We help our clients develop working practices, as well as People strategies, cultures, and teams so that they can create an environment that not only attracts top talent but also where their people are engaged, productive, and want to stay to develop and progress their careers. We do this acting as a visible and proactive extension of our clients’ management teams.”
enabling businesses to succeed
“Depending on people’s previous experiences and interactions with HR functions, our profession can be perceived as bureaucratic, or excessively compliance- and rules-focused (my pet term for this the “HR police”, the complete opposite of how AAB People work!). So, it’s really important to me that with clients and across our team we focus on HR support as enabling businesses to succeed – providing flexible, pragmatic and solution-focused advice to allow business owners, leaders, and founders to achieve their goals. The best HR people are commercially focused, proactive, flexible, responsive, and truly passionate about their clients’ businesses and successes!”
